Steam cleaning vs dry carpet cleaning
Steam cleaning (hot-water extraction) rinses deep into the pile and extracts the water; "dry" or low-moisture methods use very little water and clean mostly near the surface. SoCal Steam Clean uses hot-water extraction.

Hot-water extraction
- Rinses soil from deeper in the pile.
- Removes the solution with strong suction.
- Carpet needs a few hours to dry, depending on conditions.
- Often recommended by carpet manufacturers for periodic deep cleaning.
Low-moisture or "dry" methods
- Use compounds, foams or pads with minimal water.
- Dry quickly.
- Clean mostly the upper fibers.
- Can leave compound behind if not fully removed.
Which fits your situation
Low-moisture methods are often used for quick maintenance on commercial carpet. For a deep clean of residential carpet, hot-water extraction removes more embedded soil. We use truckmount hot-water extraction and don't offer dry-compound cleaning.
