Our cleaning process
Every SoCal Steam Clean visit follows the same core workflow — inspect, prepare, pre-treat, agitate where needed, extract with truckmount hot water, spot treat and review with you — adjusted for the fiber, fabric or surface in each San Diego home.

The process at a glance
Short answer: we look before we clean, match the method to the material, rinse soil out with industry-standard truckmount hot-water extraction, and finish by reviewing the results with you. The steps below explain what happens at each stage and why it matters.
Step 1: Inspection and walk-through
Before any equipment comes inside, a technician walks the areas with you. We check the fiber or fabric type, traffic lanes, visible spots, pet areas and anything you are concerned about.
This is also when we set expectations. If a stain looks like a dye, bleach mark or permanent damage, we tell you up front that it may only lighten. Pricing is confirmed on-site so the scope and cost are clear before work begins.
Step 2: Preparation and furniture
We protect corners and door frames where hoses run, and agree with you on which furniture will be moved. Small items, fragile decor and electronics are best moved before we arrive — our pre-appointment tips below cover this.
Our truckmount van parks close by, so hoses run to the work area while the machine itself stays outside.
Step 3: Pre-treatment
A cleaning solution matched to the material and the type of soil is applied to loosen dirt, body oils and spots. Heavily used areas such as hallways and the paths between rooms usually get extra attention.
We use CRI Certified residue-free products, chosen so that little is left behind in the fibers after rinsing.
Step 4: Agitation where appropriate
On problem areas and heavily soiled carpet, gentle agitation works the pre-treatment into the fibers so soil releases more easily. We adjust or skip this step when a material calls for a lighter touch.
Step 5: Truckmount hot-water extraction
Industry-standard truckmount equipment rinses the carpet or fabric with hot water and immediately pulls the water, loosened soil and solution back out. This rinse-and-extract step is what most people mean by "steam cleaning."
Because the truckmount provides strong, steady suction, more moisture is removed during cleaning, which helps carpet dry sooner.
Step 6: Spot treatment
After extraction, any remaining spots get targeted treatment where it is safe for the material. Some marks improve further at this stage; others have reached the limit of what can be safely removed, and we will tell you which is which.
Step 7: Final walkthrough and after-care
We review the cleaned areas with you before we leave, answer questions and share drying and after-care guidance — such as keeping pets and foot traffic off damp carpet and leaving air moving through the room.
Upholstery, tile and natural stone
Upholstery follows the same inspect, pre-treat, extract and review sequence, with methods matched to the fabric. Tile and grout are cleaned with pre-treatment, agitation of grout lines, and pressure rinse and extraction; natural stone such as travertine, marble, slate and flagstone can also be sealed.
Realistic expectations
Most soil and many spots respond well to professional cleaning, but some stains — dyes, bleach, sun fading or permanent damage — cannot be fully reversed. We tell you what to expect during the walk-through, before work begins.
Pet treatment
Pet treatment is an exclusive add-on that targets urine, odor, stains, bacteria, pet hair and dander. It is quoted on-site based on the severity in each room.
